As part of its pre-E3 2011 press conference, Konami has had Hideo Kojima introduce Transfarring, a "gaming lifetsyle" system for improving connectivity between the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation NGP/Vita. By "Transfarring" a save file from a PS3 to PSP with compatible titles, players can take their saves with them and play on the go, continuing from exactly where they left off. The first title announced to utilize the feature is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 2011. It will be released along with remastered versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Kojima also explained that his plans for Transfarring don't end with the PlayStation Portable. Speaking to Mark MacDonald, Executive Director at 8-4, Ltd, Kojima said that file transfers for PSP-quality titles was only the first step in Konami's plans. The next step involves porting PlayStation 2-quality titles to PSP and PlaySation NGP/Vita, which either system is certainly capable of handling.
